Can anyone give a list of the new victory conditions that will work with RTW 1.3. I don't have BI so I can't look at examples from that. Has anyone actually tried modding the victory condition using descr_win_conditions.txt?
Yes, in BI, we have victory conditions like this :
empire_west
hold_regions Northern_Italy Africa Taraconensis Thracia
take_regions 34
etc...
It is possible to put conditions in RTW 1.3 like in BI. Remove condition 'imperator' (for romans) or 'take Rome' for others, and put your conditions :
hold_regions xxx xxx ...
take_regions xx
It's works fine.
(excuse my English, I read very well, but writing is another thing).
Also - you can leave the descr_win_conditions.txt file empty if you want the game to solely rely on scripted victory conditions.
Although this thread is old, I haven't seen any additional information about this point.
The game doesn't seem to recognize the victory condition take_regions XX if it has not the condition hold_regions Region1 Region2 in the line above.
In the short campaign I haven't tried any condition different from outlive_factions. Does anybody know if it is possible to put the same system hold_regions + take_regions as in the long campaign?
Perhaps this is known by most of modders, but just in case...
you can change from long to short provincial campaign by selecting the type of campaign for imperial campaign, going back to the main menu and selecting then the provincial campaign.
You must have take_regions XX AND hold_regions XX XX for 'Victory Conditions'. In a short campaign, this is not possible.
I've had another odd problem with descr_win_conditions.txt. In XGM I have new victory conditions for the Greek factions, which work fine on the vanilla map, but when I try to do the same thing with the Mundus Magnus map it doesn't work.
If I just put in the default conditions (take_rome etc) then everything works fine. But if I try to use take_regions and hold_regions then on the faction selection screen it reads "Sack settlements [region]" and it fails to recognise the number of regions entirely.
It doesn't happen to me.Originally Posted by DimeBagHo
In the faction selection screen I see the names of the regions set as objective and the number of regions stablished as victory condition.
In the faction pannel (when faction button is pressed), the number of regions appears again, and there the names of the settlements in the task regions appear.
How many regions do you put as objective? Inmy campaign, as the number of regions is lower than the vanilla imperial campaign (76), the maximum take_regions is 40.
Did you try to put only one regions as objective? I don't know if there is a limit in the number of regions. I usually put only 4-5 task regions.
Which possible victory conditions are there, by the way? I don´t have BI, so I can´t very well look it up there...
Monkwarrior: I solved the problem I was having. It turned out to be caused by an error in text/strat.txt. Strange but true. :)
I'm not sure if there is an effective limit on the number of objectives, but the maximum number of province/settlement names that will appear on the faction selection screen, and in the faction info scroll, is 11. On the Mundus Magnus map I have the number of regions to take as 70 - which seems to work fine.
Ciaran: You can see the possible conditions in the second post from the top.
Yes, but are those all that exist?
Thanks. What about "outlive_faction", does that only work for short campaigns?
And, by the way, is there a fundamental diference between Imperial and Provincial campaigns?
Yep, only works for short campaigns. As far as i can tell there is no significant difference between imperial and provincial campaigns apart from the name. You don't get an option to select a short campaign with provincial campaigns. But IIRC - you can go to the imperial campaign screen, select short campaign, and then go back to the provincial campaign.
This is my file for victory condition of RTR Platinum. What I want to ask is, while when selection faction screen listed exactly as I include in the descr_win_condition.txt , while in actual campaign, when you click the faction icon and see the victory condition, it is blank. Shouldn't the victory condition say something like Take Rome and 20 other settlement (as in vanilla) or something ? If my format wrong ? Any help and explaination will be most welcome.
Is my format wrong to make it not appear in the campaign ? Or is there any other file I need to update to synchronize with the updated win_condition file ?Code:romans_julii hold_regions Latium Africa Central_Gaul Macedonia Syria Nile_Delta Pontus take_regions 50 short_campaign outlive_factions gauls romans_brutii hold_regions short_campaign outlive_factions macedon greek_cities romans_scipii hold_regions short_campaign outlive_factions carthage numidia macedon hold_regions Macedonia Syria Nile_Delta Babylonia Attica Rhodos take_regions 50 short_campaign outlive_factions greek_cities thrace egypt hold_regions Macedonia Syria Nile_Delta Babylonia Attica Cyprus take_regions 50 short_campaign outlive_factions seleucid armenia seleucid hold_regions Macedonia Syria Nile_Delta Babylonia Attica Propontis take_regions 50 short_campaign outlive_factions egypt

The in-game victory condition portion of the faction scroll uses images to display the victory conditions. They are stored in the "ingame_maps" folder in the campaign folder (see the BI campaign folder for examples).Originally Posted by LestaT
Text will only appear in this section if you are using the vanilla victory conditions ("take_rome" and/or "imperator").
Thanks my friend. It seems that the issue has been settled with Marcus Camillus latest corrected files. Thanks.![]()
