Game end dates?

Stupid question, I know. But I have just scoured the forums and the manuals and can't find any mention of game end dates for either RTW or BI. Can someone please tell me what they are, and provide me with a link that tells how to mod them?

RTW seems to have an end date of 14 A.D. The exception is that you have won the long campaign, and want to keep going.

In my case, I won the long campaign as the Julii about 50 B.C. That was when I was starting to get really good stuff such as foundry quality armour and Urban Cohorts. I decided to keep going.

At this point, I have Rome and all of Europe, as well as Western Africa, and Turkey. The Scipii have Egypt the area around it. The Rebels have the extreme East end of the map, and I am slowly choking both other factions.

Presently, I have 89 territories, and the year is 87 A.D. I am going for it ALL!

As to the B.I. end date, I do not know. The town that I live in does not have a store which stocks it. I may go to The City in a few weeks and see if it's there.

I think 476 AD as an end date was a little conservative on CA's side, but I understand where they're coming from since the last western roman emperor was removed in 476 AD.

I think it should have been more along the lines of 600 AD or so as the end date, since during the dark ages there was probably only a couple empires that were established, the rest were either barbarians slowly progressing towards an early medieval culture or empires in chaos.

Given that Romulus was not recognised as emperor, the west had an emperor until 480 when his retainers murdered him, possibly at the instigation of Glycerius, by then bishop of Salona, whom Nepos had removed from imperial office.Given that Julius Nepos retained the authority over Dalmatia given by his office of Magister Militum, he was probably more of an emperor than Romulus, even after Orestes had installed his son Romulus, in the face of eastern opposition.

Hmm, if I remember correctly, didn't the romans maintain a very small influence over Gaul near where modern Paris is up until 486 AD? I remember reading that somewhere but i'm not completely sure

Yes, the Gallo-Roman Syagrius ruled north-western Gaul around Soissons as Dux until 486. His 'kingdom' was overthrown by king Chlodovech (Clovis) of the Franks. I agree that the date of 476 as end date is a bit conservative. It also gives you a sense of urgence as you advance through the game as it is only about 230 turns long.
