    Default Problem installing patch 1.3

I've returned back to playing RTW after a long hiatus. I saw that there was a new patch for RTW so I did a clean install of RTW and I downloaded the 104(!) MB patch. I tried installing the patch but I got the following error:

    "Setup has experienced an error.

    Please do the following:

    -Close any running programs
    -Empty your temporary folder
-Check your current internet connection (Internet-based setups)

Then try to run the Setup again.

    Error code: -6001"

I did all that was requested, even closing down all of the programs in my taskbar and uninstalling/reinstalling RTW. I even downloaded the patch two more times in case it got corrupted the first download. Despite all this work, I still get the same error message. Any help with this? :(

maybe try getting offline and then turning off your virus software and anything you dont need. Just remember to turn the virus protection back on afterwards. Might also try running a defrag.

try downloading the patch with your antivirus software on[never turn it off].
when the down load is complete log of internet, then disable ALL your antivirus software[spam killer, privacy service, firewall, antivirus] before installing the patch.it usely isnt the downloading with anti virus software thats the problem its installing to the game after easy thing to rember is

    virus software on when downloading

disabled when installing to the game.

you can all so virus scan the download before installing send it to temp folder for latter use.

BUT always make sure your disconnected from the internet when installing the patch mod etc.

and if your unfortunate enough to still be on dial up internet[as opposed to broadband]. dont bother buy BI instead.

I've tried all of your suggestions and still no luck! I guess I'll have to wait until patch v1.4 to get the updates :(. Patch v1.2 works fine so I'll have to settle with that.

I googled my problem and I found a solution:

"The other sure-fire way is to delete the IS engine components on the target machine: but that's ugly and not practicle in the field. If these machines are under your direct control, then try deleting the IS engine components that are stored locally. For you, probably: <Common Files>\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\0701."

If others have the problem that I have, please refer them to this thread. It's an Installshield problem.

Check out the thread of same title as yours, in the Entrance Hall by de Siem yesterday.
It seems he has found a solution to this problem.

    Good Luck
