What you do is, stand your ground with the units that are too slow and are going to get caught anyway. Move everything else back up the hill, turn it around and charge down the hill as soon as the crusaders are getting a penalty for climbing the hill. Also if you move a few of the units on the flanks out to the side, they draw off a large number of crusaders and can escape without being caught.
The trick of this battle is to break up the solid mass of the crusaders charge, some will be delayed destroying your slower units, others drawn off to the sides and you will be strong enough to defeat the ones that reach the hill with a charge from your cavalry. Then it is just a question of mopping up the rest.![]()
