Default Problems installing the med mod for MTW

I'm sure i'm following the instructions right, but i get a game with a very buggy map.

The read me on Wes' site mentions a graphics installer and a text installer and the stratmap, but i only see one installer and the strat map, is something missing? There obviously is as when i run it and play the game things are way not right.
Seeing as i play on the highest resolution i don't even need the stratmap thing right?

What are the exact names of the installers i need:
I see only http://wes.apolyton.net/Medmod_IV_v4.06.exe and http://wes.apolyton.net/Medmod_IV_v4_Maptex.exe on Wes' site, as well as the seperate uninstaller.

He, i can't edit my posts?
Anyways, i just wanted to add that i'd tried installing it with the stratmap bit as well (installing it second), and it made no difference, still the same buggyness.

I tried reinstalling medmod on a new installation of Medieval just last week and also got a mess.

The secret is that you have to install it in the Total War folder - NOT the Medieval folder itself.

The Total War folder should be the folder one level above the Medieval Folder, ie your directory should look something like C:\program files\total war\medieval - total war\

I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling Medieval, then installing Medmod in the Total War folder.

Also, which version of the medmod you use depends on which version of Medieval you are running. Are you running MTW/VI, MTW 1.1, or MTW 1.0?

If you are running v1.0 you will have to patch it to 1.1 first. If you are running v1.1 then download and install the version of medmod that works with 1.1. Likewise if you're running MTW/VI then ensure you have patched it to v2.01 first, then download and install the medmod version for 2.01.

Ah, same solution as for the BKB mod then.

Yes, i always patch, i think its the installation folder, i was telling it to go into the medival one, and not the total war one (which medival is in), that has to be it. Well i'm gonna finnish the game i started in BKB and then try it again.

"Junior" members can't edit their posts. As for your actual problem, screwtype said it all. Nonetheless, if your problems persist, install Wes's mod in an empty folder and then copy/paste the contents in the appropriate folders. It's long and tedious but it works...

Yeah, i gathered that, still, not being able to edit one's posts is new to me.

Anyways, so i install, using the first suggestion, which actualy quickly became the second suggestion, as it dumped everything in the Total War folder, and not the Medival one, so had to move it all manualy, which was fun.
But its there, i can select it and all, except when i try to load the campian, i get a CTD. What gives?

Perhaps I'm not following you, but it sounds as though you did exactly the opposite of what I suggested.

Medmod goes into the "Total War" folder, NOT the "Medieval - Total War" folder. The "Total War" folder is the one above the "Medieval - Total War" folder.

I did exactly what you said, installed it to the Total War folder, and sure enough, all the files were in the Total War folder, i had to manualy move them to the Medieval - Total War folder.

So, you're saying medmod did not work at all when you installed it in the Total War folder?

That's strange - it's the ONLY way it works on my machine - at least, I'm pretty sure it is. I only did the reinstall of medmod a week or two ago, and I'm sure that's what I had to do to get it running, because I had the exact opposite problem to the one you're describing. (Edit: Perhaps the different versions install in different folders. I only have MTW 1.1, so I use an earlier version of medmod. Wes might have changed the installation procedure on the later mods, I don't know).

But if you're still getting CTD's, let me ask you again - are you sure you've got the right version of MTW? You have to have version 2.01 to install the particular version of medmod you're trying to install.

I'm not sure if 2.01 is the vanilla version of MTW/VI or if there was a patch for it. It might pay to check.

Also, if you can't get wes' latest version of medmod to work, you could always try installing the previous version, which he also has a link to at his website. It might also pay to try running the game in a lower resolution.

Re-edit: Since I've run out of ideas, I have dropped a link to this thread in the MTW mod folder. Hopefully somebody with a little more experience with this mod can help you out.

Wes mentioned he forgot to add some graphics in 4.06 version, so he uploaded the correct version a couple of days ago. make sure you have downloaded this version
