Anywhere but San Diego. It's awful here: boring clear skies, every day about 22 degrees C (72 degrees F)--yawn--, a very wet ocean, beaches that never get cleaned of sand, mountains that would have a nice view except they're covered with trees, a zoo so famous it's full of freeloading animals from all over the world that don't pay taxes (stupid immigrants), and Sea World where you can't go swimming in the pools because Willy and Flipper have hogged them all.
The only good thing about San Diego is that the traffic is so heavy, everyone sits on freeways which means the shopping malls are less crowded.
So, if you're contemplating moving to a nice place, forget San Diego and you won't regret it.

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.
I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.
Texas is ok, I have relatives there and in Oklahoma and New Mexico too and think that the SW US would be a good area to live but it is too hot for me. I’ll stick with West Michigan, all 4 seasons and no chance of a natural disaster.![]()

I wanna live in Utah! I've already been there once and i want to stay there!

I turned to look but it was gone

Western Australia. Perth city sits on top of 15km of beach sediment... the beaches are long silky white sand. The India Ocean is beautiful to look at and swim in.
Fishing at sunset with the sunset taking an hour to lose its majestic curtain of fiery colours, with the water around your knees and drinking Schnaps. Perfect.
Texas is tiny in size in comparison btw.![]()
I'm still a California boy. New Jersey is growing on me though. Nevada thoroughly sucked in my experience. I did meet the woman I should have married in Vegas though. Arizona (Phoenix) is appealing--I like hot (dry, not humid) weather, and I have a friend there, who is best buddy with an extraordinary kenjutsu sensei who also lives there. They really know how to ROCK in AZ too. Maybe I'll try that next.
Yeah, I left my Heart in California ... [daydreams of Lake Tahoe and Desolation Wilderness; Sea Ranch, St. Orres Inn, and the Mendocino coast; San Diego's Gas Lamp district at night; the beaches of La Jolla and the fine retaurants nearby with their stunning ocean views; San Francisco bay, Marin County and Mount Tamalpais; Mount Shasta, Mount Lassen, and the Trinity Alps; the redwoods of Humboldt county and it's, um, primo agriculture; the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and all the little gold mining towns; and of course--good ol' Sacramento, where I grew up, and which I know better than any other city on Earth ... [sighs] ...].

You certainly have covered the state. I have been to all those locations myself, except Sea Ranch, St. Orres Inn, and Humboldt. I almost moved to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.Originally Posted by TogakureOjonin

I'm so sick of the MidWest that I want to puke.
SFTS makes a good argument for Texas (because I'm a sucker for women in cowboy hats) but sadly 1. my girlfriend would not agree that pretty ladies in cowboy hats are a good reason to relocate and 2. I'm currently only allowed to be in the MidWest (curse you visas).
If there was a poll option of Texas (like it should be spelt), I might have voted.

The housing is very expensive though, and it's bleedin' dry for a student from a tropical country. Gah.
I'm thinking I might move to the Great Lakes or NE region for a change once I'm done with high school. The expensive-but-prestigious universities there are among the greatest in the world. :) And I heard the weather is good.
