    I have mine on default. My pc sucks lol. Of course if you're talking about preference.... I would say as big as I can get. Not to mention that I want more than 16 units to play. I hate reinforcements as they aren't as effective as they should be especially when the general has routed/ died.

    I find that if I use anything bigger than large the lag gets pretty bad, especially when I get attacked by hordes in BI (2-3 stacks of enemies with 120 men per unit is enough to give my PC some problems). Besides it makes it quite difficult to recruit armies if you have it set higher- especially at the beginning of a campaign.

    I only use Huge. I want to feel like I'm fighting majors battle, not a skirmishs.

    Neither of my computers is even up to big battles on large. Huge would be my preferred choice, and large is acceptable. Now, I can only do normal (and small)...

    Hey All;

    I would have to go with the Large estimate, because iIhave worked
    out consistent FPS with the P III that I have installed with 64 VRAM.
    I do remember that in campaign mode, having larger units did call upon
    your resources, which made for a more challenging game.

    I use Huge, and all the other settings to High, Highest, except unit detail. I reduce it one setting as I find this does a good job of cutting down lag. Also, I turn off the fancy stuff like shadows, etc. Whenever, the combination of AI armies and my own start causing more lag, I pause the battle and bring up the options screen and readjust the unit detail down another notch. This generally reduces most of the lag.
