Hello,
Is there some way to slow the speed of projectiles fired from a siege tower or from fixed towers? I would prefer to eliminate this stupid feature for siege towers.
Thank you in advance for your kind help.

What do I have to change where to slow down the fire rate?![]()

Increase the "fire interval" setting for each of the arrow generators. Default is 1.5, so going to 3 will cut the fire rate in half. 6 cuts it to 1/4, etc. Fire rate is rather low at 6.Originally Posted by SomeNick

Has it been tried if removing the firing ability altgether is possible? If it's not, is there a known upper limit for the fire rate (to make it so hight that it will fire once and then practically never)?

I don't think it would be hard to remove them. Look at what parts of the file fixes the position of the arrow generator and its stats, then comment them out, or cut them down to a single unit.Originally Posted by Mouzafphaerre
If you want them to fire no rounds, or far fewer, change the number of rounds to 0 or 2. (1 is usually not allowed--at least it isn't in export_descr_units.txt, haven't tested it in the descr_engines.txt--causes game to CTD on loading if I remember correctly.) It's just something to experiment with.
However, keep in mind that siege towers were indeed used to sweep defenders off the walls historically. Some were just fixed ramps and small towers. The defenders would build timber towers on their walls at times to retain the height advantage. The current fire rate is pretty high, discharging each weapon every 1.5 secs, but you can cut that back so that it is a steady stream instead of a rapidfire burst.
There is probably a place in a file somewhere to set the "build points" for these things as well, but I do not know where. One issue with RTW is that sapping and building towers is an awfully short process.

Ok, thankyou guys![]()

Actually I went ahead and did that last night. Will test today.Originally Posted by Red Harvest

RTW siege towers and RTW/MTW towers/gates are magic machines firing automatically, without human intervention. AFAIK, it can't be modded to act according to reality (such as you have to deploy units to operate them and they cease to work once the unit leaves etc.) so I had to take them out.

OK, show_err helped a great deal (thanks for it CA) and I believe I managed to neutralize the siege towers. But the engine file apparently doesn't deal with wall towers. Where are they, if any? Can they be modded at all?
