v 4.0 will include fully new armies of franks, saxons and picts ( replaced celts ) and allso a new map that will be far superior to the original one. Maybe I'll add loading screens.
+ new horse models by Pinarius. Finaly RTW have new realistic horses.

Yes, picts used long robes. Honestly, I don't know why cause long robe provides difficulties in fight. Maybe better to ask picts?![]()

Pictish Ludodaoer - finest tribal warriors of picts
Pictish Schiltron - heavy spearman - the backbone of pictish line that provides cover for light troops.
A small bonus - loading screens that will be in my mod.
Those are WIP, so dont criticise if you find any graphical errrors, just rate the idea.

To ATTILA RELOADED, I have been following RTW King's new map thread for some time and was wondering if the two of you are (still?) collaborating on a map?
Also do you know yet if it will be possible when the v4 mod is ready if we will be able to install and/or download the map separately from the rest of the mod?

After a furious hand-to-keyboard battle with coding, I finaly learned mapping and added 6 more provinces to Italy ( buildings and garrisons are not added yet ) -

For the reasons of balancing ( which was already shaken by sel's v 1.0 map and I want to make game for WRE realy hard ) I had limited the number of provinces I will add to the provinces already added by Seleucos. I will add 1 more province to Spain, 2 more to Gaul and 2 more to Britania. 11 new provinces to WRE. And some more provinces to ERE.
Of course, this would enrich much roman faction, so I will make life for them harder by balancing unit numbers, so romans will have to rise more and more units -
So, my idea about unit numbers is -
- Barbarians -
Levy warbands - 200 men
Heavy Warbands - 160 men
Elite warbands - 120 men
Skirmishers warbands - 180 men
Horse warbands - 140 men
Elite Horse warbands - 80 men
- Sassanids -
Levy infantry and skirmishers - 200 men
Sassanid spearman - 140 men
Sughdain warriors - 110 men
Light horse - 120 men
Cataphracts - 60 men
Elephants - 30 men ( 10 elephants )
- Romans -
Vegilites - 140 men
Skirmishers - 150 men
Foederati warbands - 180 men
Foederati heavy warbands - 140 men
Foederati elite warbands - 100 men
Auxillia Palatinae - 100 men
Legionarii - 100 men
Cavalry - Don't know. Anyone can tell me the historical number of late roman cavalry units?
And no 2 hitpoints to bodyguards!
So, you see the idea - barbarians are numerous and cheap and romans are expensive.
Yes, it seems that v 4.0 mod will be a much more global mod. Just remember all the features included. It allso means that it must have a new name and some advertisment and unfortunately I have time only for skining and some mapping.

Here is the final version of WRE map ( compare to vanilla Bi map) -
With it, romans gained over 34.000 denarii per turn, and to balance it, I made multiplyed WRE units upkeep in 1.8X and R-B units in 1.6X and now even an expert will have a real challenge.
Next, I'll add 4 cities to european part of ERE and a couple to asian part.
After this, I will only have to make some loading screens, a dozen of units, add some candies and release the mod! Mybe this time I will need beta-testers

I can't wait to use this mod. In the spirit of helpfulness, I went to a museum in southern germany recently and saw a selection of francisca axe heads. They looked a little different to the one's portrayed in the image there. More curved.
