Default Another sad-eyed puppy waiting at your door

Because I was partially responsible for closing the first Sad-eyed puppy thread (sorry about that horrific picture, Khelvan- I promise not to do it again.) I feel it is my responsibility to start a new waste-your-time-until-EB-comes-out thread. And how better to start it than

a proper identification for this thread?

    Mmmm... spaaaaaaaam.

    Say hello to Sailor Bubba:

RTW, 167 BC: Rome expels Greek philosophers after the Lex Fannia law is passed. This bans the effete and nasty Greek practice of 'philosophy' in favour of more manly, properly Roman pursuits that don't involve quite so much thinking.

Pfft, everyone knows about Google bombs. Try "French military victories", while you're at it. There are lots more (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_bomb)

And by the way, the button says "I'm Feeling Lucky", not "surprise me". At least in English.

I think it's safe to say that a) the number of Google searches for "horse" increased measurably for the 24-hour period after the_handsome_viking's post*, and b) we all went away disappointed and perhaps slightly uncertain as to whether he was joking. (Now, if you search for "horse + bestiality" . . . yeah. You get what you expect.)

*Okay, Google probably gets roughly 2,000,000 searches for the word every day, and the price of grain in Nepal probably has a greater effect on the rate than the_handsome_viking's post did. It's called hyperbole, look it up if you're lost.

I went scuba diving in Maui this past spring, (got certified 6 days of diving in 2 weeks: yaya). Anyway, I have always had a deep deep fear of sharks, but it was a life goal to go scuba diving despite the phobia. It was an amazing pants-pooping experience.

I didn't really S*** myself, but I was one scared SOB the entire time. Pictures like this one trigger an automatic adrenaline dump in me. I can barely even watch "Shark Week" on the Discovery channel.

It really is a shame people do that just because they fear something. This had been happened too many times.

Sharks and wolves especially have always suffered by humans killing them due the fear. I can understand phobias and fears, what I can't understand is people killing wildlife and each other just for that.

Oh well. Call me an SOB. I don't like being in something else's food chain.

And yes I know they are in ours primarily. I am just a shallow ass who wants to kill things that are scary to me. Like bears. Or wolves. Or my mother-in-law.

But to be fair, way back when, people used to hunt Wolves for food and fur and often protection.
Look what these bastards have done to Wales. They've taken our coal, our water, our steel. They buy our homes and live in them for a fortnight every year. What have they given us? Absolutely nothing. We've been exploited, raped, controlled and punished by the English — and that's who you are playing this afternoon Phil Bennett's pre 1977 Rugby match speech

I am with Ragabash on this one. You shouldn't talk lightly about exterminating species: it already happens far too often and we don't know what we are destroying. I can understand it when a species is a threat, but the fast majority of sharks aren't dangerous. The four or so species that are (mainly the great white) can be avoided with a little care. I have heard that hippo's kill more tourists per year than shark attacks do. They walk over them, apparently.

But you sound like you want them destroyed because you are afraid and they disturb your diving experience. Sorry, but I rate sharks higher than your scuba diving. Human arrogance has already destroyed too many things

Speaking of wrong and babies, that reminded me of a joke...

What's worse than a baby in a garbage can?

@Zorba: it's amazing how I'd never seen a schematic horse picture like that, and I've seen it twice in a few hours now... just this morning a colleague of mine brought one of those to the university. weird.
