Thread: Unlockable factions in BI

    Default Unlockable factions in BI

I remember hearing that the Celts and the Berbers were the only factions that could be unlocked (and would work) using game editing.

I know the RB/Slavs/ERER/WRER wouldn't work because they don't have towns and family members in 363 AD.

But how come the Burgundii/Lombardi/Roxolani don't work? They're the factions I want to play...

I would download ProfessorSpatula's mod, but I like the idea of the RB emerging...

yes you need to write a new faction description, don't forget to also edit the descr_strat file ( C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\bi\data\world\maps\campaign\barbarian_invasion), as you would have done in regular RTW

Is that the same for the Berbers? They crashed when I tried them...

You also need to change the factions from unplayable to playable in campaign_descriptions.txt., I think.

Well the berbers already have a description , so I would say to just add them to the descr_strat file, if you haven't already.

Other than that , I have no clue why your game mightr be crashing

Try the -show_err command, that might help

Well, I got into the campaign. Started ordering what to build and recruit and then it crashed as I clicked to build something in Dimmidi.

It's the only campaign I've managed to get into on computer2, but on computer1, I can play the campaigns fine, I just can't play the battles.

I'll be making a final attempt at a reinstall now (for computer1). If that fails, I'll try it on comp2, then I'll give up.

as I said , use -show_err to determine what the problem might be.

Just click on BI shortcut, right click , propreties , the make sure you copy this into the first white field :

    "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -show_err

now play, if the game crashes, an erro message will show up , telling you what went wrong

    Give it a shot

.....or just use an all factions mod.

I believe you follow the code represented above, which you use to type a message. I think the description can be anything though.

this show_err thing sounds like a really good idea for this sort of thing, and many other problems, especially text problems, if it works.

i think you also need a 'target' map for when you open the faction scroll and there's that map there.... it's a new thing that each faction needs for bi
