Ha ha ha! Yeah, that original photo did look pretty frightening.
It's actually interesting to give some thought to the photos chosen by the press for their articles. For example, through much of Bush's first term, I couldn't help but notice that many of the photos I saw on CNN.com were rather, shall we say, poorly timed. He'd be in the middle of saying something, so that his mouth would be twisted into a strange shape, and his whole face would look ridiculous.
Then he won the election. Suddenly, inexplicably, his pictures started to look more normal. His head would appear level again, his mouth closed, and his eyes properly open.
That didn't last long, of course. It was some time ago that his photos began to take on that "candid" look again. I guess the guy will never have many fans among the press.
