    Default 6 Star Brit

Playing as the English recently I had the first English king produce a 6 star son. This was after his first 1 star son and second 3 star son. Is there some funky math going on here? I'm trying to get away from pruning the family tree but when the third in line is twice the general of the first two the eldest have to die. Was this just random and if so, what's the range for heirs and command?

Perhaps you got Richard the Lion Heart. And be glad, when your crappy princes become king, you'll still have an immortal 6 star general.

There is a random element to heirs (and random traits improve/damage them as well) but in general the better the king's command rating and influence then the better his heirs will be. I tend to try and improve the bloodline by weeding out the really poor next-in-lines with futile solo attacks on whoever my current enemy is, or as a door breaker in seiges.

Well, most of the time you get 3-4 with a anger vice or a 1-2 with a bravery vice as england, a 6 star is just kinda out there.

His name was Henry (the first?). I just didn't expect to see him in the 11th century. Before he died he produced some super heirs, 7-8 stars and excellent stats. I need to use some crusades to boost the piety of his new heir and I'll be in heaven. He also produced a wrap around son, 10 stars, unfortunately only the 0 will show . He's going to make an excellent governor of Flanders.

Princes tend to be prone to the "Pride" vice, which negatively affects their command. Perhaps this is what afflicted yer first two sons.

Either that or your king gained influence and/or command after his first two sons came of age, which was reflected in the increased stats of the third son.
