Cant get quality video settings

Hi, i just got the BI expansion installed on my new Laptop, Inspiron 9300, but I have a problem. I cant get quality video settings, the graphics I see in the game look very poor like if they were set in a low quality but, the game video settings show me that they are in high quality (1024x768, Meduim army size, High terrain, high grass, high building, etc..). I can´t seem to get the garaphics in High or Medium quality, no matter wich i set, the graphics I get still look in Low quality. Any suggestions?? Thanks. I have tried several ati drivers...dont know what else to do.
The Laptop specs are:
-Centrino 1,7.
-512 RAM.
-ATI Radeon X300 64Mb.
-60 HDD.

It is a long shot, but have you got the latest drivers?

Also, I have heard bad stories about laptops and gaming. Laptop videocards are simply underpowered.

I have no problem running any game on an Inspiron 5150 Laptop, so the bad stories are just that, bad stories. I did have one bad experience, however. My original video card was only 32 Mb (NVidia) and it couldn't handle the Senate screen on the faction button without crashing to the desktop. I then updated the video card to the ATI mentioned above but the first ATI card I was shipped was defective. No matter what I did the graphics were horrible, and the screen would go into a spasm. I finally convinced DELL to ship me another card which worked perfectly. Be sure to ask the DELL tech what the latest driver for the ATI video card is, and how to obtain it.

Thanks guys. Please if there is somebody, or you know someone who´s running RTW on an Inspiron 9300/ATI Radeon X300 64Mb, please let me know the their using. Anyway it could be that my video card is defectous...
