I've been messing around with behavior settings--which is as far as my current "acumen" will allow-- and have a couple of questions.

Expansionist, Defensive, Trader etc. are self explanatory. I assume Peaceful corresponds to Defensive for Muslim cultures but what is Devout? Is it UBL devout or desert philosopher devout, ie Isolationist or Stagnant? Barrocca's tutorial file seems to imply that setting Almohads to Devout makes the game more difficult although I tried this and have seen little from them. Also, what's Desperate_Defense and for a Stagnant culture The Byzantines seem to be all over the map.?

Just out of curiousity, why do Muslim settings get labled "Peaceful" or "Devout" where corresponding settings for Christians are "Defensive", "Isolationist", "Stagnant" etc. As a survivor of both WTC bombings I'm just sort of interested.

I know that most on this forum are far beyond these mundane questions but I did a Search and this subject was not addressed.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Well, I don't have ANY answers, but I would like to know this information as well. Just thought I'd show some solidarity in my ignorance. (Or is that ignorant solidarity?)

BTW, sorry for making you think someone had replied with an answer.

    Ciao,

Well, those categories are made with certain factions in mind. There's only one faction that could ever really be "ORTHODOX_STAGNANT". I suppose that "DESPERATE_DEFENCE" was intended for one of the factions, or maybe another one altogther. Like "REBELS" doesn't determine how rebelious a province is, and rebels can't be real factions, so I think that this was planned but droped. But experimenting is best.

    Thanks,

Solidarity in ignorance is a good thing and quite prevalent nowadays.

You're right, experimenting is the best way.

Was just venting a little about apparent PCness of behavior titles--Defensive vs. Peaceful etc. and I might be imagining things. Been a little techy on this subject lately. I think I'm set on CHRISTIAN_DEFENSIVE.

Well I think that each corresponds mainly to which buildings or units get built. If you check the crusader build files they list all the strategies and theres a number there w/c acts like a percentage I think of whether or not the faction builds this building. Like defensive factions tend to build up fortifications before anything else, devout factions will tend to build religious buildings and crusader factions will build up crusader buildings and send out crusades.

    Just my 2 cents,
