I have a question, what type of spearmen are these, and can you get these in the Selucid campaign?

I'm sorry about the second post so quickly, if you cant get this unit for the Selucid Empire, could you guys put this unit in one of the virsions or something please, I'm sure others agree this would be a cool additional unit for the Selucid Empire.
They seem to be a unit which was not included in the game. Other than that I don't know.

They look like armoured hoplites. And , yeah not in the game... well that particular shield they have isn't anyway. Looks egyptian.
Nice pic though : )

:P I told you they might be a unit dude. They look cool, though Silver Shield's still look cooler.
ya, does anybody know where to get the BI demo?
sorry for the post right after this, I dont understand why it doesnt give me an edit option, o well.
ya that picture is my desktop.
Is there also going to be another Rome game after BI?
sorry for all the questions lol
You can't edit, vote in polls, or post outside the Entrance Hall and iirc a couple other forums until you are a member.
There will almost definately be another Total War game after RTW: BI, other than that not a clue.

The BI demo can be found in the downloadsection of www.totalwar.com. Failing that, you could use the search for "BI demo download" in the Colloseum.
There will be another Total War game after BI, but I doubt it will feature the Roman Empire.

ok, thankyou, i'm downloading the demo right now.
that pic looks like Hoplites without the phalanx which is what RTW really missed out on... they coulda at least made hoplites good with the swords as they were in real life
thats a unit of seleucid captains...you also have them with thrace and macedon...theyre not included but a simple change in the strat file can change thatOriginally Posted by WhiteProphecy

That pic is my wallpaper, too. I think they look cool. What do I have to change in that file to make them accessable? I'm doing a Macedon campaign right now with good success. I would like to use that unit. I have a 9 star general now. I booted the Brutii from Greece and am starting my conquest into new lands. Soon I hope to take Rhodes. I could really use that wonder. lol
Ausculta mihi! Tibi dico!
eh do want them as captains (as they were intended) or as a unit (wich is more complicated to do).
We do not sow.
I have a question. For BI, I’ve heard you can edit certain values so that rebels don’t pop up so frequently. Where can I find the correct file and what would be a proper value to input so that rebels appear far less frequently but with larger numbers? I’m tired of fighting brigand armies consisting of 2 spearmen or 2 peasants every three turns.
I would also like to know if there is a way to reduce the amount of pirates. It’s utterly ridiculous to see massive fleets of these little buggers roaming around the Mediterranean. One or two is understandable but a whole stack of pirate ships?!

That would be desc_strat.txt, the core file of a singleplayer campaign.
It should be in (Main Rome Directory)\bi\data\world\maps\campaign\barbarian_invasion
Scroll down slightly and you'll see, just below the start and end date values, a short series of "switches" you can use to activate or deactivate certain features. The ones you want are brigand_spawn_value and pirate_spawn_value.
You edit the frequency of brigands and pirates by changing the number beside these values. I'm not certain precisely how these values work, but it is my understanding that higher numbers reduce the probablility or frequency of brigands or pirates spawning.
Personally I don't know how the game determines the size or "rebel" armies when they are spawned, or how to change this, but perhaps veteran modders could help you.
Hope that helps,
