Default Re: Your own perfect computer game!

A specialised version of Rome Total War, modified in the following ways and run on a network of Ninja PC's:

    1) There would be no monitor. There would be a few giant screens instead, all around you and overhead (in a room about 5 x 5m). Probably rear projector type stuff to avoid heat build up. Access would be via the floor, with integrated quiet A/C with temperature control and built in chemical dosing that adds in appropriate aromas depending on the location of your general in the map (i.e. in a summer field with flowers, or the cool wind of a northern winter).
    2) The viewpoint control interface would consist of a mechanical bull modified into a horse shape (and with the bucking behaviour removed... except for when the general is under attack, to punish you for putting yourself at risk). The viewpoint as shown on the screens would be from the generals position. Movement of the "horse" by certain actions (i.e. pressing feet onto certain point) would cause movement of your position on the battlefield.
    3) All other controls would consist of voice commands given to your computer controlled staff officers (who would ride with you) or using your sword (which would be a laser pointer/ lightgun type thing allowing pointing and instructing of units.
    4) Information would be provided by the method of both the displays and also messages brought by computer controlled runners and advisors (Who would only know what you could know, and would not be any more omniprescent).
    5) Actual specifics of the units control would be left to advanced PC A.I. (in other words, completely replace that in RTW). Alternatively I'd employ a bunch of Chinese RPG fans to control them if the AIs weren't good enough - in exchange they get to use the networked PCs for their RPGs for free when I don't need them sub-generalling for me.

And there we have it, Rome:Total Immersion...

edit: 5 x 5m room size seems a bit more ego-massaging now I think of it, and more pratical to fit a mechanical horse in.

The scary thing about leaving the Org for a while and then coming back is the exponential growth of "gah!" on your return...
