Thumbs up Byzantium TW Update #2

    Hello Byzantium TW fans!!!
This is our second update. Work has been continuing, and we've managed to create many new units. This is just a selection of the new units we've created.
We also have some new members, 2 new modellers/skinners, happy to work with us, to speed up the creation of the mod.

This is the last update of this kind, because we are taking the example of ChivTW, making faction previews.

For this update, we've mainly worked for the Byzantines and Bulgars. Xennik worked also on the Byzantines, and Shogo on the Cumans/Mongols.

For the start, here's a new screenshot of the campaign map, which I'm working on.

This is not finished though. There's still much work to do. It's visible anyways that I added provinces.

And here are the new units, made by Blindfaithnogod, Xennik and Shogo.

    Mourtatoi

Mourtatoi are armoured archers, capable of delivering showers of arrows against the enemy. They are able to fight well in melee against light and medium armored troops, but are not likely to stand up against the power of heavily armed troops. This combination makes them a must-have for any commander, as they are flexible and powerful enough to fight in melee when the need arises. They are not very cheap units, but their ability to fight and shoot makes them worth every penny.

    Skoutatoi(reworked)

Skoutatoi are the basic infantry units of the Byzantines. Though not heavily armoured, they are fast, and all-around good infantry. Highly diciplined, they form the backbone of the Byzantine army. They can be found in vast numbers in any Imperial army, valued for their discipline and courage. Like their predeccessors in Rome, they use javelins to soften up enemy units before charging. Armed with spears, they can hold their ground against most types of cavalry.

    Peltastoi

Peltastoi are light armoured skirmishers. They are fast, experts in the arts of hiding. They are used to screen heavier troops and also pepper the enemy with their powerful javelins allowing the real killing machines of the Empire to do their work easily. Being lightly armoured, they cannot be expected to hold their ground against heavy troops. Their light armour and short dagger isn't of much use, unlike the equipment of their more powerful brothers, the Peltastoi Enoplioi, who can stand in a melee even against heavy infantry.

    Peltastoi Enoplioi

Peltastoi Enoplioi are heavy skirmishers. They are able to destroy the enemy with their hard javelins. They are used to screen heavier troops, and fight alongside them also. They aren't fast, because of their armour. They compensate the speed with their ability in hand to hand combat, being able to stand against even against heavy infantry, but they cannot be relied to stand against a powerful cavalry charge, which will rout them quickly. Armed with a sword and a large shield, they are excellent troops at a medium cost.

    Cuman/Mongol Heavy Cavalry

These guys are a real thunderstorm for the enemy. Their very powerful charge is their main weapon. They are equipped for melee, and can rout even heavy infantry. Their main disadvantage is their weight, thus they cannot move fast. Armed with a mace and a bow, and protected by a heavy armour, they are an important piece of the puzzle. They cannot be available is large numbers, because of their very high cost.

As a small treat, here are the Varangians, equipped with their officer(WIP):

Hope you liked this update. More will come up later.

Thanks Myrddraal. We worked very much on these units, and we are still working hard to bring the best mod available.
