Yeah, you could take 'em to court if there were delicious breasts shown, but a young boy hanging himself is only inappopriate in this case. Breasts, however delicious they may or may not be, would be indecent. If it were an accident, and not someone trying to pull a Fight-Club-like move, I see little reason to sue anyways.

Edit: of course breasts would be an example of indecency back in the day, now it would take a little more.

that's a good point. in america, any sexuality is considered morally indecent, but since the situation is death and/or violence (in a movie), it's a snowball's chance of anyone ruling against it in teh states.

Not now-a-days, although there may be a multitude of state laws in the nudity area that I don't know of, only if it were something like breasts during intercourse or very vulgar language. I don't know for sure though, because I don't know of any indecency cases since Pacifica, where they ruled that teh (evil) FCC could punish indecent speech at certain times but not outright stop it -- what's the difference, the government can't stop anyone from saying anything, they can only punish them after the fact? E.g. radio stations cannot, if they don't want a fine, broadcast vulgarities during the day because it is an invasive form of speech, same idea goes for cable companies although it is a bit more complex, see Denver Telecommunications.

There is the reasonable view that it is improper for children to view a suicide, imo; and the numbers of our pron industry will tell you otherwise about uncovered breasts -- breasts which are not delicious can rightly be condemned as indecent.

Stuff happens. A tort would only be successful if the movie theater could have been shown to have been negligent in its response or to have purposefully made such a switch. Seems like they responded reasonably quickly and attempted to recompense viewers. Hardly grounds for a suit, however disturbing/frustrating for those kids involved.

Now, the twistoids who purposefully inserted bits of pornography into rental copies of Disney films as a prank (late 80's/ early 90's if I recall) were in a different category.

Suicide is, I submit, NOT an appropriate subject matter for those in single-digit ages. Violence and explicit sexuality probably should both be off-limits or minimized in that age frame as well. Yes, the USA has some internal consistency problems on this -- but we're not exactly alone in that.
