Also, I think that in a closed, hierarchically structured environment with no moral checks on a person's behaviour, many people are capable of such cruelty. Remember The dirty dozen? Those, are psychopaths, the only 2 % that fire at the enemy to kill them without training. (With training the us has something like 80 and 90 %) They have no fealing of remorse, they could kill you and watch you die completely collected. There was some man who killed tons of people and shot (In different places to see how fast they died and the like) them from 3 feet just watching them die.
