The Legendary Swordsman Event takes place when one warrior in a unit gains a significant level of honor (maybe 5?). Yes, it builds up from battle to battle. I've read that you can use your Daimyo and his hatamoto to do this, but I've also read that it takes them longer. Early on it's easiest to raise their honor with bold attacks, before enemy armies grow large and the risk to your leader becomes higher.

As for the swordsman event, it's starting to come back to me...especially the fact that chasing routers gets you less honour than a straight up battle. hmmmm. bah! that's the problem with being good at playing 'expert' level - one always knows how to scare the AI from attacking. MUST PLAY STUPID FOR A BIT.

i suppose i could have conquered the known world by now, but i totally love being attacked by superior numbers of AI...which, unfortunately, means you can't go around beating them up

I just use 1 stack to go around and attack an army.
In about 3-5 turns of taking this single stack in to multiple battles (Early in the game)
The swordsman event is triggerd.

But weather is the same for both units and IB is 100% flat.. or isn't tha what you meant?

argh! stupid geisha girls! eeeek! *runs* if my game is ruined cause of AI super sluts, will dropping down to the difficulty level below expert stop them cold?

I don't think so. Get some ninja houses, train a 100 ninja's and assasinate her!!!
