    Default 1.3 strangeness

    Hi,

When I was playing the Brutii lately I allied myself to the Macedonians. A few turns later, the Scipii did the same. Then I proceeded to take Segestica (on Senate's orders), and the nearby Macedonian army apparently didn't like that, because after my taking of the town they stabbed me in the back and besieged Segestica themselves. However, this had as side-effect that the Scipii broke their alliance with me! Next turn (I had by then drove those pesky Macedonians off), the Julii broke their alliance with the Scipii. I afterwards reconciled myself with the Scipii, but the Julii didn't so now I and the Senate are allied to all Romans, and the Julii and Scipii are allied with me and the Senate, but not with each other! Is this normal? It is still very early in the game and I still am not able to attack any other Romans due to lack op popularity with the people...

On a side-note, I noticed that many of the starting portraits of the factions have changed in 1.3 (was this also in 1.1 or 1.2? I never had those) and that the Senate now starts out with two Greek family members! (The have a Greek name and portrait)

That happens to me all the time in 1.3. The Roman factions don't stay allied with each other for long. Even though the alliances are broken, I don't think they can attack you. Since my alliance broke with them rather early on, I thought I would attack. I still couldn't because I didn't have enough popularity.

There is an interesting thread over at the offical forums.

It appears the Roman factions are now more weary of each other. Also, surprisingly, it is the Julii who start of at war with Carthage rather than the Scipii.

never had this happen in my BI campaign.

Though I have heard about it at these forums...

Weird behaviour , but is it a bug , or feature..

I didn't mean BI guys, I meant the Romans in RTW 1.3 (Julii, Scipii, Brutii, Senate)...

Btw, thanks for the link Syxx_Killer! Seems to a bug then.

Does anyone know about the general's portraits and the 2 odd Greeks?

Well since alliances mean absolutely nothing in RTW I don't really see what the problem is....it does seem strange, though.
