Modded formation files might cause desync in multiplayer anyways, so..

And you can distinguish them from other units by switching their class, that's true. Sorry about that, I totally forgot about that. One good option for the new class would be skirmish, which is completely unused with vanilla units (though you'll have to remove other skirmish entries from df(ai) to get them where you want them to be)
