What I gathered from reading too much Nietzsche is that you should create your own belief system and hold it for yourself only. Sharing it will only lead to problems.

EDIT: Creating your own doesn't mean combining a lot of other ones into a main one. It means going from the basics and building up to create something original.

Religions, doctrine, and scripture are just clutter. They are distractions from the simplicity of the Tao. There is nothing to believe in, not even the Tao. No one can convince you of anything; everything, always is only ever your own decision. To state you convinced someone or were convinced by someone is totally wrong, you only ever convince yourself.
