Thread: new body types?

    Default new body types?

After i thought i duplicated all the files necessary for my new unit graphic .bif. I figure out that the name that i named this graphic, will not be recognized with gnome editor, thus preventing MTW to open. Where could i have gone wrong. I tried adding a new bodytype called MongFoot

Coppied Dervish bodytype folder and renamed it MongFoot (both new bif files i changed are called MongFoot)

Created new graphic by changing old /textures/men/bodytype/bodytype_H.bif

    >edited it by extracting to bmp, changing images, adding 4 weapons and 1 shield. saving it back to a bodytype_H.Bif file shrinking it 50% to make the bodytype.bif file.

I edited the coordinates for the new weapons and shield in the /bodytype/shields.txt and /bodytype/weapons.txt

Added new units with unit_prod.txt by copying similar units and edited them in gnome to change their body type Using all caps and no extra spaces or punctuations.

    >copying the GhaziInfantry_S, and _W.txt and changing their weapons and shield numbers according to the new order i logged into the weapons.txt and shields.txt

I went to the ActionsDiddy and coppied GhaziInfantryX.txt and renamed it (for example- MongolSpearX.txt) I noiced that some of the txts did not have Xs where some did.

I did several other changes that were listed by Duke John's Unit Graphics guide. https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=31893
Where might i have gone wrong, in entering the correct data for MongFoot.

Sorry about the delay- was banned from all forums including my account due to an administrative error, still thankfully thats cleared up.Coming back to your problem- basically what you are facing is a measure initiated by TW to protect their IP.

Or in other words the number of BIF folders in the Textures Folder is hardcoded, as is their nomneclature. So if you want to use the 10 extra BIF textures provided in VI you will have to retain their orignal nomneclature-
that is your new BIF should be named:
    Custom1_H.BIF
    Custom1.BIF

Continuing on in the same vein for the remaining 9 blank BIFs. In case you want to use an existing BIF such as NEGINF, something that is only used by a few units then you have replace the existing BIF's with your new ones while retaining the original names.

Just ask if you have any other problems.
In the three years of war, necessity gave birth to invention. During those three years, we built bombs, we built rockets, we designed and built our own delivery systems. For three years, blockaded without hope of imports, we maintained engines, machines, and technical equipment. We spoke to the world through a telecommunications system engineered by local ingenuity. In three years of freedom, we had broken the technological barrier. In three years, we became the most civilized, the most technologically advanced black people on earth."
