Exactly, a lot of moderately (or less) looking characters actually lends a game more realism in my book. Look at a collection of medieval portraits, and you'll see that few of them would be working as models in our days.

Apart from that, when do you actually need to call up he princess´s portrait? You move them about on the map to marry them off or maybe to spy, but that´s it. They don´t gain valor, so there´s no need to check whether they went up in that department.

One of the cardinal rules of game making is that characters should look as decent as the technology you have can make them :-p.

I personally don't have problems with it. Every so often oyu get a pretty one. I remember I had a few cute ones when my Spanish King pumped out 8 princesses all named Isabella. My randomized timer must have been on the fritz that day.

Well let's see: no concept of proper nutrition, no fresh fruit year round, vegetables were cooked so long all nutrition was wasted, horrible living conditions, primitive medicine, and "pure" blood = supermodel? What did you expect? A beautiful woman is and always has been a beautiful woman. In medieval times the most attractive women were the ones that had huge...tracts of land.

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.
