There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

Look what these bastards have done to Wales. They've taken our coal, our water, our steel. They buy our homes and live in them for a fortnight every year. What have they given us? Absolutely nothing. We've been exploited, raped, controlled and punished by the English — and that's who you are playing this afternoon Phil Bennett's pre 1977 Rugby match speech

I think leaving and not lurking can be good for a backroom soul. I overloaded a while back, stopped coming in here completely, and just enjoyed other areas of the board--and other boards--for a while. Cirumstances then forced me to take a complete break from the internet for few a months. When I returned, I had a fresh perspective. I decided to take a peek in here, and so far have managed to avoid getting overly annoyed at anything anyone has written. Granted, I don't look into many threads--I just don't have any interest in them. But a few have interested me, and I've participated.

I enjoy the other areas of the board more, and spend more time in those areas than here. But I still like to stop in here once in a while and see what's going on. If I find myself in a group that's "going at it," I just smile and move on to the next "table" to see what's going on. So far it's been a good modus operandi.

Nope. Your French. French is the opposite of Conservative. Therefore, I would never beleive you.

Au contraire; France is almost as conservative as they come.

I think it is quite obvious why many of the conservatives are leaving to anyone who glances at the watchtower. Nobody likes to play in a hostile environment, where warnings are issued without justification.

In general the French are very proud of their national heritage and way of life, and with the exception of Mitterand have consistently elected right-wing politicians to power. As such France can be considered a rather conservative country.

I've found the enmity between the current governments of the US and France fairly surprising considering the large amount of common ground when it comes to internal policies.

if you read Divinus's post, he is leaving (temporarily) to take a break from the backroom because the discussions frustrate him, not in protest to how it's being moderated. so any connection to me is daydreaming at best. i'm beginning to wonder if somebody here has a schoolboy crsh on me and is showing it the only way young people in kindergarten can: by being obsessively ambivalent.

Uh oh, you better warn me.

I know of more than a couple of people who have stopped posting on these boards because of your horrible.. well not horrible, just extremely subjective... moderation, so whose really daydreaming?

And its really a pity too, because its not people like me who are leaving (itll take more than an overtly biased moderator to do that), but its people who really cared and contributed to the discussions, who dont want to deal with being on your good/bad side when you decide to play God with your warnings.

You were right when you said things are going to change, and they have, for the worst. The backroom will go the way of the progressive circle once you're done driving all the conservative minds out of here.. oblivion.

Yeah its really frustrating when you use great big letters to say that you have totally pwned a discussion , and then see your statements ripped apart with ease .

Yeah I like his style , the thing is though that when decent posters leave they either go permanantly or for a long time , whereas the the real doughnuts do the big internet suicide note and then return straight away , sometimes repeatedly , that can be really devastating .

Just to clarify, it has nothing to do with the moderators here. I am actually quite fond of the moderators. Sure, they lean left a little. But they *generally* do not allow their views to interfere with their moderating duties. Soly is actually one of my new Faves, what with him tolerating the Darth Soly pokes and all. That shows good character and sportsmanship.

I am just taking a break because I feel like I am banging my head against a wall. It is a little too... too negative back here lately. There's no optimism. It's all doom and gloom.

I'll be back. I might even lurk a little.

On a side note, I just graduated Business School with a BBA in management!
Some will come loudly, thank you very much!

I guess I'll see you on the EB boards!

Despite our differences, you are all my "virtual" friends.
