Default strat_ed- this may be big!!! (modders check this out)

Okay, TIME or trivium independant map editor, is full of flaws and annoying.

In data/text/shortcut, you will see the command lines, like battle_ed, which is the battle editor you should all know of.

I have evidence to believe that there IS a flawless campaign editor in the game.
I can go through all sorts of reasons, but just delve deep into the text files and you'll see that there HAS to be one.

In UI there is buttons for what is clearly a srat editor
In descr_strat, it says generated by romans camp. map editor
In the battle editor, it says create campaigns, but the right command line, I think is missing.

CA aren't breaking any rules if they hadn't told us- this, if it works will make a whole list of new mods.

the command line or shortcut that i think it may be is 'strat_ed'- but I dont have a pc of my own, so i'm not allowed to mess with this stuff.

It would be cool if you could get a map editor, as it seems only right that there is one somewhere.

I would like to know if this works or not, and so would the whole community i suppose...

I just tried running RTW with the command line parameter "strat_ed" and got nothing different, I'm afraid.

They probably have some sort of tool like this. They need it to generate the regions file and the strat file. Wouldn't surprise me if it also applied the events. If you've ever done all this stuff manually you realize what a pain in the rear it is figuring it all out by trial and error.
    Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.

Well, as I look at it, we have less options to choose from. It is trial and error, but I have a suggestion which may work! If not, back to the drawing board I go...

    - the 'enable editor' and 'strat_ed' together may work, as it is stated in the battle editor 'create battles and campaigns', it's just you haven't commanded the strat section

And I believe this WOULD work, as in the UI folder, the buttons for the strat editor are WITH the battle editor buttons...

    another idea...

Although yes there are buttons and text references that support the fact that there is a fully fledged strategy map editor (which has been known for over a year), it doesn't mean the actual strategy map editor code exists in non-developer versions of the game. If I recall, it wasn't until the 1.2 patch that even the battle editor was able to be used. Until CA give the public the nod, I can't imagine we'll get the campaign editor working. I think that they're purposely holding back on many modding opportunities until the next game in the series.

Yes, I seem to remember reading in an interview a statement that the strat map editor would not be released.

there are traces of their strat editor everywhere, they even have the icons for them. I believe DJ posted them soon after RTW came out. Unfortunatly I don't think they are more than traces....

Yes, this is part of the grand scheme of advertising the game as moddeable but providing no tools. That mods give TW free advertising since they are a common feature of PC Gamer and other magazines seems a worthless fact to CA's managers.
