    Default For the record

The Chairman of Committees: 'My Lords, the monitors
in the Public Gallery have relatively recently been
improved so that it is now possible to see what is
happening in the Chamber. Members will see that
they are on fairly large screens.'

Lord Tebbit: 'My Lords, would it not be a good idea if
the Chairman of Committees and all Members resisted
the mad idea of this House being dragged into this
century? It is a very disagreeable century. Would it
not be a better idea to drag us back perhaps into the
19th century, which in many ways was a very much
    better one for this country?'

The Chairman of Committees: 'My Lords, I do not think
that anything I have said today could be construed as
bringing us into this century. I am actually trying to
bring us into the previous one.'
The bloody trouble is we are only alive when we’re half dead trying to get a paragraph right. - Paul Scott

I get to watch the Prime Ministers Address to the House of Commons each week on BBC America, that's some funny stuff. Maybe with some new technology I can look in on the Lords.

The House of Lords is a fantastic place. I love listening to debates there on Today in Parliament (BBC Radio 4, 11.30 pm). I hope to be in there one day... I'll apply for a peerage on my 21st birthday...

They rarely show debates in the House of Lords unless the Noble Lords are thwarting more of Her Majesty's Government's schemes, like during the Hunting Bill debates...
It was not theirs to reason why,
It was not theirs to make reply,
It was theirs but to do or die.

The House of Lords is there for when the Commons (which basically is the Government at the moment) gets too far up it's own arse.

You mean the Hunting Bill that was forced through the House of Lords by the Parliament Act? Not really thwarting, is it?
