Alrowan, you missed pre-Minor Threat hardcore. That stuff didn't suck...with the exception of Suicidal Tendencies.

emo rangers fight the evil hoodie patrols and the big monster robots (aka power rangers?) its actually a good take on power rangers itself

and yes i forgot the pre-mid 90's hardcore scene, probably the best one ever :(

but like the mid 90's punk scene, its dead and gone, i must accept that now :(

today punk is dead, all the bands play over-produced crap that a punk would throw up at, the mid 90's revival of the fun surf punk was cool, but it didnt last, so sadly we must listen to Breakup Songs Volume XXXIV

Hey, cheer up: all the more chance to try out other genres, right?

If you hate the current punk scene then why don't you make your own band? It's not like punk requires much talent.

Because one band doesn't qualify as a 'scene'.

I'm american too. But my top 15 bands would have ... let me check... three north american, one south american and eleven european bands.
I'm not criticising, btw. It was just the very first impression when I read through that list (now before something says anything, I'm aware of Ssystem of a Downs heritage).

Voodoo was the only Godsmack song I didn't hate, actually.

Tricon seems to be the only one here on the right track, but there's too much power in there for me. Where's Spartakus in this thread, anyway?

I don't think I can make a list of 15 of my favourite bands without including some that I won't listen to tomorrow, so I'll have to stick to the timeless ones. In no particular order:

    1) Negligent Collateral Collapse (grind - Czechia)
    2) Immortal (black - Norway)
    3) Absu, especially the Celtic releases (black/thrash - USA[texas])
    4) Death's first two albums (death - USA [but Chuck's older brother was in the Scorpions])
    5) Finntroll's first two albums (folk - Finland)
    6) Akercocke (death - England)
    7) Cryptopsy's first two albums (deathgrind - Canada)
    8) Nunslaughter (death - USA)
    9) Skyforger (folk - Latvia)
    10) Vital Remains (death - USA)

Lately, I've been listening to more grind than I know what to do with (Intestinal Disgorge, Torsof***, Lymphatic Phlegm, Goropsy, Catasexual Urge Motivation, Devourment, Dahmer, Anal Blast, Anal Stench and a compilation called I Can't Believe It's not Grindcore), some Turkish BM, some technical death and some traditional metal just to take the edge off.

Though I like quite a few death metal songs... it's just thtat. Single songs. If I listen to Akercocke too long(f.e.), it just get's on my nerves... and they're among the most varied death bands out there.

For one thing, I said no particular order. For another, just because the name is insulting to you doesn't mean they suck. Every song in Their albums are all hits, almost like Rage Against the Machine.

And how do you know about metal, country boy?

EDIT: Tricon, I'm not really given the oppurtunity to listen to music from other countries (maybe I haven't tried hard enough). Thanks for the list. I have names to look up now.

Depends on the album, I'd say. I actually got started on Choronzon (run for Satan!), but at this point, I think Goat of Mendes the best. Rape of the Bastard Nazarene had a different sound to it altogether, although I enjoy it very much.
