Ice... Again
This time not about the inforgiveable ice in my Cognac, but about the first ice of the winter!
It is about naught degrees Centigrade, and there ice on the pavements! It won't be long before it snows! Not that I'll get off school... The Director of Education bases days off for snow on whether or not the buses are running in the City Centre...
Soon I'll have to make the arduous trek 200 yards along the road to the grit box and get a jugful of grit for the driveway...

It's getting colder here. I'm not looking forward to cycling to school for an hour (and back!) once the temperature drops even more.

Light snow falling here. Off to work in a half. Usually we never work weekends but we've lost a lot of days recently with the weather. Several inches of snow one day, next day it's 15 celsius and raining, next day it's -5 and a world of ice. Just ridiculous.
I'll put Quebec up against anywhere on Earth for whacked out weather. Temperature swings of 20+ degrees celsius are common. I went to bed one night and it was raining, it was about +6. It was -32 when I woke up. That cost me $600 because I didn't turn on the basement heater before bed and the pressure tank froze, burst, and the submersible pump burned itself out from running dry. That was the fastest drop I've seen.

New England can get pretty close to that, though Quebec sounds a bit worse. We've had it go from 72-30 degrees F many days. Not much ice or anything here yet, but that's just because it has been very dry.

This winter is projected to be one of the warmest in a long time, which is supposed to mean more snow...but that hasn't been the case so far.

Why would it being warm mean more snow? It has to be 0C or below for snow. And what country are you in for it to be projected as a warm winter?

Here we have had our first winter days, nearly a week with below 0 Celsius. I worked on my land the other night, fluffy snow, starry sky and a full moon. Ah the bliss.
Today it is 8 Celsius and raining… again.
The prognosis for this winter (next three months) is a 3 degree Celsius above normal and abundant precipitation.
Rainy days for us lowlanders and probably heaps of snow in the mountains.
We have had some extreme weather here lately (probably caused by the hurricanes in the gulf) with flooding and lots of water everywhere. When a city like Bergen can’t take all the water it gets, something is seriously wrong.

This winter is definately going to be the coldest for a while here in Britain. We've had 3 succesive days here in Yorkshire where it has frosted up overnight and the frost has stayed all day. Usually the frost is gone by midday. And yesterday was incredibly cold. I think it stayed at 0C or below nearly all day.

It's getting really horrible where I'm at, we just got our first frost 2 days ago.
One of the advantages of living in a coastal area, the ground is usually too warm for the snow to set. But only about 30 miles inland its common for them to get at least 1 one to 3 feet snowfall every year.
When a fox kills your chickens, do you kill the pigs for seeing what happened? No you go out and hunt the fox.

It still hasn't snowed here but it could in a while. Yesterday in the morning it was about -3 degrees Celsius and when I was going back from school (2 pm) it was 15 degrees. An 18 degrees raise in 7 hours.

It's cold here, about 4 degrees celsius, the North Wind is blowing hard and the central heating is going to be turned off for three whole days next week.

It's downright snowing here in Cleveland. I'm a little worried because I have to first fly to Detroit in order to get back to Memphis for Thanksgiving. But the locals tell me that the amount of snow we're getting shouldn't stop anything.
