Yep indeed, Black Rain is a personal thing. The thread said "favorites" not "best" for once, for which I'm glad. A lot of the movies I listed aren't great movies--I just really like them for one reason or another.

I also like the movie Willow.

But how about this one for you - Monty Pyton and the Holy Grail - it is also one of my favorite movies.

The troll bridge is just to damn much - along with the Killer Rabbit scene. But the biggest crackup for me is "bring out your dead"

Now if you ask my son what is his favorit movie - it would be this movie.

Three is tough. Just for kicks, my top three:

    1. Blackhawk Down
    2. Patton
    3. LOTR Trilogy

    After those three...

    Star Wars (old)
    Blazing Saddles
    Airplane
The Man Who Would be King
    The Odd Couple
    Gladiator
    Ben-Hur
    Office Space
    The Scarlet and the Black

Maybe I'll think of more later...

    2/ Platoon

    3/ Casualties of War

    Warped films:

    1/ Cannibal holocaust

    3/ Man bites Dog

    Classics that one must see:

    1/ Pulp Fiction

    2/ King Kong (1933)

    3/ The Shawshank Redemption

    Shoot em ups:

    1/ Dobermann

    2/ Leon

    3/ The Boondock Saints

    Fantasy:

    1/ Fellowship of the Ring

    2/ The Two Towers

Far, far too many to name.
I'd agree with almost anything in this thread mind.

Absolute top 3 might be Last of the Mohicans, Sin City and oh, Boondock Saints?

And I'm hoping that the Asian girl in front of me would turn out to be Lucy Liu where I'm a bodyguard, and she'll knock me off in seconds. And when she's leaving I'll semi-consciously notice that she dropped one of the earrings. I'll shout at her "Hey, Is this yours?" with a bleeding mouth, and Lucy -understanding that I'm not only a great stuntman but also a great candidate for a husband- will turn back and heal my wounds.

    1. Shawshank redemption (best of all time i reckon)

    2. Jurassic Park (although not nearly as good as the book, still one hell of an influential film in my life)

    3. hmmm tough one... Probably Monty Python's The life of Brian (Always look on the bright side of life is my life's anthem :))

Strange movie, my favorites parts are where they're describing what "used" to be, so in effect the best part of the film, (for me anyway), is what you never actually see on screen, because it all happened years before.

Maybe not a great suprise considering its age, but doesn't anyone remeber seeing The Graduate for the first time? Didn't have swords, aliens, or blood in it though so couldn't include it in a top 3

Farewell to the King - with Nick Nolte.

I like the shots in it more than any other movie, and I love Leone's story-telling thorugh the whole trilogy.
