Yep indeed, Black Rain is a personal thing. The thread said "favorites" not "best" for once, for which I'm glad. A lot of the movies I listed aren't great movies--I just really like them for one reason or another.

A lot of good films listed here, along with some really debatable ones. Black Rain? Demolition Man? Ladyhawke? Uh, well, I guess it's a personal thing. Some of my faves:

But how about this one for you - Monty Pyton and the Holy Grail - it is also one of my favorite movies.

The troll bridge is just to damn much - along with the Killer Rabbit scene. But the biggest crackup for me is "bring out your dead"

Now if you ask my son what is his favorit movie - it would be this movie.

And I'm hoping that the Asian girl in front of me would turn out to be Lucy Liu where I'm a bodyguard, and she'll knock me off in seconds. And when she's leaving I'll semi-consciously notice that she dropped one of the earrings. I'll shout at her "Hey, Is this yours?" with a bleeding mouth, and Lucy -understanding that I'm not only a great stuntman but also a great candidate for a husband- will turn back and heal my wounds.

When I saw some of this movie, I remeber the dialoge being way out of sync with the mouth movement. I can't say I can like a movie much like that.

Maybe not a great suprise considering its age, but doesn't anyone remeber seeing The Graduate for the first time? Didn't have swords, aliens, or blood in it though so couldn't include it in a top 3

Farewell to the King - with Nick Nolte.

I like the shots in it more than any other movie, and I love Leone's story-telling thorugh the whole trilogy.
