This would probably mean more work for the mods though.
But it would mean you can easily see the % of bad posts a member makes.

I don't think that removing the postcount for the Tavern would really solve any problems.

As long as there is a postcount and people have the feeling that high postcount is equivalent to some kind of higher status you will have spam.

If you remove postcount from the Front- and Backroom, people who are keen on having a high postcount will try to get it elsewhere and will clutter the TW-related threads ... not sure if this is something we desire.

If you want to get rid of spamming to increase postcount, then remove the postcount altogether.

Interesting approach, but not really feasible IMHO. Who will decide what qualifies as a "bad" post?
Other patrons by reporting? I think it's not very hard to imagine the "fun" that would lead to...
The moderators? I don't assume that a lot of patrons would appreciate being micro-managed by the moderators in such a way (also, we already have enough complaints about perceived bias - I don't think that having moderators rate posts would be a got move)

I beg to disagree. Moderate as strictly as eg. Beirut, BKS or kekvit do (or Gregoshi used to do); deliver warnings and other stuff more generously to spammers and don't reset them and you won't have any spam anywhere.

Postcount itself isn't evil. It's sort of a part of your identity, along with the join date, as long as the two are proportional.

its already here. And its already used.
Some 1 already must go decide whats right n whats wrong.

All i sudgest is that you get a little red post count for all of the posts that have been deemed bad.

I can see how It may lead to more work With people Having a Day out on the report bad post button.
but its already there so it cant be that bad.

Prehaps the org Could try a few of the Ideas out on a trial basis, See how it goes kind of thing.

As for karma...

i was at 1 of the other forums i visit today And i noticed someting,

32 people had attempted to give me good points becous i had helped fix there problems,
But i had no good karma about it,
(did not bother me)
but i had an argument with 1 mod about the fact that he was an idiot,
"yah I argue with mods every where if they argue with me"
And he gave me 1 bad point, and that counted,
So i dont like karma points lol. :P

"good" spammers- i.e. thinking spammers, who spam for fun and/or recognition (I personally do it for fun... this place needs some livening up sometimes) do, indeed, follow your guidelines. However, "bad" spammers, i.e. leetists and other internet freaks, spam for postcount and prestige, and these are the spammers that cause problems. Not that "good" spammers do; it's just that they are less problematic. It is like comparing the mid-50's biker gangs, who were just minor hoodlums, but generally friendly guys, to the Hell's Angels style bikers- the rather brutal, Vietnam-vet nutcases. The Hell's Angels spammers make the internet a less fun and friendly place.

Also, this is not a very good idea- there are some people, such as me, who only post in a few forums, and usually in the Tavern- for me, it is only EB and the Tavern. So cutting out posts for the tavern would be frivolous, because the Tavern is really sort of our home; it is where everybody we know hangs around, and we aren't going to post elsewhere more because we don't get "counted" for it.
