    Question 2 modding questions

Excuse me if this seems odd, but I thought it would be better to put 2 (hopefully) simple, if not particularly related, modding questions in 1 thread rather than having 1 thread for each:

    1) I know the Battle Map/Scenario editor was added in the 1.2 patch, but what with one thing and another I never got round to looking at it until last week. Searching has mostly yielded complaints that it's simply to bug-ridden to be worthwhile, but I have one question about it: Is it possible to change the coordinates of the battle map so that you can create battles somewhere other than the featureless desert which apparently inhabits 0,0?

    2) Is it possible to extract, or indeed just listen to, the sound files in the game? I've found details about accessing the music, but nothing about the sounds (advisor dialog, battle "commentary", pre-battle speeches etc.) Is there a way to access these?

    Thanks,

Yes, when you use the battle editor, it gives you a map with a cross on it. You can move that cross about.

I believe it is, though I've never done so my self

Okay, but how do I view that map? Is there a hotkey or something I'm missing? Or should it simply be there at the beginning?

it should be there when you create a new map... before it loads the editor itself...

I've got it now, I feel pretty foolish

For some reason I was using the battle_ed switch, which boots you straight into the editor, rather than than the enable_editor switch and accessing it through Options.

    *cough*

You have to extract the sound packs with Verc's great XIDX.
Be aware though that addin NEW sound files is a pain in the ass if you try to do this ;)
Changing existing ones isn't too hard, but you have to delete or rename events.dat

Thanks alpaca, I've got them now. That was very helpful.
