    Default Grond

    hem hem

I hadnt modeled in a while so i decided to start something new and interesting. So heres for you lord of the rings fans out there. Imagine battering down your enemy's gates with Grond. You know. The massive wolf battering ram that the orcs wheel up to minas tirith that made the gondorians piss their pants. Well youll be able to soon.

Heres what ive made so far. It isnt much but for half an hour of work id say its shaping up pretty well.

To finish this though ill need two things. Firstly i need someone to get me some decent shots of the thing as the pictures im working with now arent nearly adequate. Secondly i need someone to make me a texture. I am not an artist and if im forced to texture this thing itll look pretty bad. Any help in those two areas is much needed and much appreciated.

Nice indeed! Glad to see some modding of siege equipment. Perhaps you could make some of the uruk ladders or Mordor siege towers next?

Worked some more. The head is done except for minor tweaking as the model progresses. The chest and arms are taking shape but are to a large extent done.

It looks better than what you may be able to get from that one screenshot.

Im still looking for anyone to skin this model. I wont be able to release anything unless someone can skin this.

Not bad. Now, LOTR:TW can bring in the Wolf-headed ram.

The wolf model is pretty much finished. Itll probably get a bit more tweaking along the way. It needs a tail but ill get to that. Now to make all the structure around it.

For perhaps 5 hours of work total (starting from scratch) Id say that isnt too bad.

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth,
and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of
Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet
    fall under the Shadow

Twice and twice shall he be marked,
Twice to live, and twice to die.
Once the heron, to set his path.
Twice the heron, to name him true.
Once the dragon, for remembrance lost.
Twice the dragon, for the price he must pay.

Good work... just one thing though, the back feet should be positioned like the ones in front. Keep it up

Some bad news guys. I had originally intended to scale the animations up so that the ram as much as twice as big as the normal RTW rams however it seems that scaling seige equipment is impossible at the moment. Ill still make it. Itll just be normal sized and not quite as impressive.

    What do you mean?

i think he means the back legs should be faceing foreward just like the front ones. and good job with this model.

here is sort of an example of what it looks like:

More a model for a Third-Age mod with Grond in it - but hey, Shifty, we are in need of some intensive strat-map model work over the next 3 weeks if you're interested in helping out with 1 or 2 models ;)

Couldn't you use the small animations but make the model big? Since the movement is fairly limited it would probably work...

in one of the other threads, i saw how they made those giant elephants =\. Maybe you can change the grond into an unit instead of a ram. never modded before... so just an idea >.>
