That is hilarious. That is the worst set of translations I have ever seen. What is the name of the game?

This reminds me of the Derek Smart video. "Derek Smart's Desktop Commander!"

There are loads of jokes inserted into RTW. Off the top of my head there are also Domus Dulchis Domus, the description for Aqueducts, Judean Zealots and the "Feck", "Arse", "Drink" and "Girls" traits.

What a nice diplomat. And as for the other jokes, i've heard them all, except for the Domus Dulcis Domus one. Pray explain?

Latin for Home Sweet Home, I'm guessing.

It could be. If so, then that's rather clever of them at CA.

Edit: I just checked a latin dictionary. Surprise, surprise, it does mean Home Sweet Home!

"Brothers... we must unite against the common enemy!"

    "The Judean peoples front?!?!?"

    "No, the Romans."

    "oh yeah...."

I've seen the "all your base" message too. Very amusing!

I love the Life of Brian's movie, although the ending is pretty weird. Nothin can beat the man-eating rabbit of Holy Grail though...

My favorite has always been the "Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch"

Book of Armaments" (Chapter 2, verses 9-21), as follows: "And the LORD spake, saying, first shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."

    No more rabbit...

Pray tell, what is weird about a few crucified people singing 'always look on the bright side of life'?

We aren't exactly thread hijacking...after all, we're talking about stuff related to CA humour. Even if the relation is very small.

A bunch of guys singing, "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" while being crucified isn't weird. It's high comedy.

When I started a Briton campaign, the Gauls asked me to become their protectorate...

Their diplomat said I would "live long and prosper" under their rule!!

Naturally I told Mr Spock where he can shove his protectorate with my own personal Mel Gibson moment!!

In my Carthage campaign I got a rebel family member something like "Thermistocles lol"
Definitely started with 'T' & had 'lol' at the end.
Didn't seem particularly funny to me

This game is just asking for plenty of Pythonesque humor & its good to see its there
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...

    I'm probably the only one who finds this humorous;
After wiping out the Julii (I thought) a turn later a lone diplomat left on the island approaches my army and demands THIS.

I started to kill him but decided to let him live for comedy relief.

Welcome to the ORG. I've seen the same basic demand from the AI when it was utterly whipped and down to a single province. The diplomat figures, "Hey, it can't hurt to ask, my wife and kids have already been sold off as slaves, so I've got nothing left to lose."

Yea I noticed an Egyptian with that ancillary. 'It's a dirty job but somebody has to do it'. I bet they had to restrain themselves from replacing 'dirty' with 'shitty'.

A moderately amusing trait is this one: "Despises Trouser-Wearers" - 'Barbaric, trouser-wearing, ignorant thugs who reek of the pig-pen bring out the worst in this man.' Crikey, that's harsh.

Which is only bad when you pronounce it the common way. In latin it would be rather boring Lukius Lusius (which sounds like Lucky Luke to me).

Btw, a dev confided in me that they had a very hard time not making something quite funny about the Parthians, they after all has a name that is spectacular to say the least. "Arses"! Given CA's humour record I find it entirely believeable that they would have been rolling around in their little offices.
