Default Panzerblitz or Panzer Leader anyone?

Me and a few, very few, pals still play PB/PL by mail and e-mail and are looking for some reliable players if anyone is interested. Please let me
know if you are . Maybe this should be in the game section ,
but I wanted to let as many people know as possible.

Sure, it is the boardgame Panzerblitz and PanzerLeader and we play 'blind',
so we have an umpire that sees the entire game. We e-mail or mail our
moves to him and he does the rest. The umpire is a very experienced player
whom I have known for about 20 yrs. Sometimes the games are one on one
and other games you are part of a team playing as part of a battle group.
The only drawback is that a turn can take 3 to 4 weeks to be resolved and
mailed back, but that gives you plenty of time to plan. Also it will not impose
on 'real life' business. I have my board set-up over my garage to do my War
Planning and to keep away from wife, kid and pets . When I first started
playing I didn't even have the actual game, but played by maps and notes
sent to me by the umpire- he really helped me get started and now I have
the Panzerblitz game set, but not the PanzerLeader stuff. So when we use
PL stuff he sends me all I need. It is fun to include some 'storytelling' with
your moves to make things more interesting. The guy umpiring is thinking of
changing to vassal gaming, but we haven't started that yet. We are looking
for reliable players who will not quit mid-game, it doesn't matter if you have
no experience or are a slow reply, but we don't like to quit. Let me know
if you are interested. Thanks for the reply. Regards, Greg

I have both of these boardgames. I don't understand when you say you play 'blind'. Don't you have the position set up on your board?

Yes you have your own positions, but you do not know the enemy positions
unless they are in LOS or they have fired or moved. This makes small AT
guns and such much more dangerous. So instead of one side moving their
units and then the other side, both are really going at the same time and the
umpire figures the results. This makes things much more exciting and you
are never really sure if your units will end up where you want them to go or
if they may be knocked out before they get to fire. Much different than the
actual game. We also use some 'experimental rules' such as Barrage Fire-
to help small mortars and such be useful and Sweeping Fire- to help infantry
and halftracks be more useful. We also sometimes use the actual situation
cards for battles and other times they are completely made up scenarios
made by the umpire. Glad to see some interest . Regards, Greg

Ahhh... Wargaming but on a tactical scale?

I think in theory it should be something of the most interesting for me, but I fear I can't stand the wait, I'm quite impatient at times and have short attentionspans (not really but I quickly run out of steam, note my latests Interactive History and you will see it is done in a number of single sprints). Besides I would have to have the space and actually find the game...

    I must therefor decline.

But if you do find buddies please do post updates, it might get more people interested.

    Panzerblitz! Yikes!

My copy is 34 years old now. Got it in high school. It's good to hear that the old girl still has fans.
