Default problems with non-expanding roman factions in rtw 1.3

    Folks,

When RTW patch 1.3 came out I heard alot about issues with the Roman factions, specifically the scipii and brutti not expanding. THere seemed to be an issue with the troops either loading onto ships and then disembarking.

I decided upon hearing of that issue not to try RTW 1.3 and stick with BI. Now I'm wanting to go back to RTW but I was wondering if this issue had been confirmed and if there was any type of workaround available?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Cheers

It's a known bug. Saving and reloading every turn is the only workaround currently.

Hmmm. *scribbles this info into his RTW Bible* Well, that's a sucky workaround if you ask me. But if it works, then I guess - itis good enough.

In my limited experience, I've already seen this problem occur. Playing as the Scipii, the Senate kept giving me missions to blockade / take Greek ports and citites that belong to Brutii's area of influence. Brutii did manage to unload an army near Appolonia like 30 turns into the game, by that time Appolonia was held by a massive Macedon army so the Senate gave me the task of taking it for the glory of Rome. By the time my invasion army arrived Brutii did manage to take Appolonia, but I guess 30 turns into the game is kinda lame for a Brutish war machine

I wonder why saving and reloading every turn fixes this? Can anyone elaborate?

    Cheers

No idea. I'm guessing it's about the AI reseting each time, kinda like the save/reload bug in 1.2, only this time saving and reloading is benign

My current game as the Seleucids saw the Scipii take only the cities on Sicily, while it build more and more units in Capua. The two other Romans have taken most of the rest of the map not ruled by me. Even the Julii are close to conquering all Britain.

Yup the scipii seem to be the worst.
They took Sicily and had large armies stuck in boats off the Carthage coast.

Eventually they lost all family members and turn rebel, kinda suprising - so I went in and took Capua :)

I attacked them in Capua and must have destroyed all their generals. They turned into rebels, but the savegame could not be reloaded. I had to replay allowing their leaders to retreat. Otherwise, I did reload often enough and still the faction did not do much outside Sicily.

At the begin of each turn or just before hitting "end turn"? And yes, that´s a serious question.

The Scipii in my current Spanish campaign took Caralis. Before they'd taken Lilybaem.

Also does this affect just RTW 1.3 or is BI affected as well?
