How to restore saved games, please help !

Hello to all ! :-)
I have got the following problem,
I am not able to load saved games of a Imperial Campaign :

I installed Rome Total War localized in Italian language with patch 1.2.
and I played it for a lot of time and each time I saved my Imperial Campaign status.

Yesterday I had to uninstall RTW from my PC but I copied the "saves" folder in a
place of my hard disk before.

Then I installed RTW (patch 1.2 + 1.3) again an I placed the "saves" folder in the 'right'
RTW folder.
Now I am able to watch my saved games inside RTW, but when I load them RTW don't let me
to play them, simply it ignore them...
Another strange thing is RTW allow my to play Imperial Campaign only with Romans, other
races are locked, but before I uninstalled RTW I was able to play with many other races
other than romans ?!!?

Please let me to restore my long Imperial Campaign (I don't want to lose it because
I have beeing played it for a lot of weeks). :(

Well you may have to remove the patch Version 1.3 from the new install of the game. I do know that previous patch versions cannot be played when you upgrade the game.

It is easy enough to sort out though: just save the games you want as you did before, then uninstall the game and patch it to version 1.2 then copy back, and there you have it! All working.

It's worth a try, of this doesn't work, then hit you key board repeatedly with a rolled up newspaper and tip coffee in the monitor. That should sort it :)

I already do it, but RTW ignore all my saved games :-(

Any other suggestion ?

1.2 saved games are incompatable with 1.3

OK it is clear, but...

The "saved campaign" was saved with RTW+patch 1.2 then I installed again
RTW + patch 1.2 (not patch 1.3!!!), and RTW still ignore the saved games...

I think the problem depends on some RTW's scripts that were delete with
the uninstall process :

example:

\programs\Activision\Rome - Total War\Data\world\imperial_campaign

(or something like this) contains some scripts that are able to
lock and unlock playable races in the "imperial Campaign"...
I tried out and it works, but I am not able to understand which
script controls saved games....

Please Help me !!! :)

Are the saved games for factions other than the Julii, Brutii, or Scipii?

If you had unlocked other factions in your previous install and these save games are for those other factions, then you will not be able to play the saved games in your new install until you unlock the factions again.

In other words, although you were able to play those factions in your previous install (either due to having won a game or due to having modified the text files which determines which factions are playable), in your current install those factions are not yet unlocked. Thus, when you try to load the saved game, RTW "looks" at the unlocked factions and says "that isn't unlocked, so I won't load that saved game because he can't play with this faction".

Do the following:

1) Install RTW
2) Patch to the same version as what you had when you saved those games
3) Place your saved games in the correct place
4) Modify the appropriate text file to make all factions playable
5) You should now be able to play your games

Directions for step #4 are easy. I don't have the name for the file with me at the moment, but it is available in numerous places on this site. If someone sees this post and knows it, please post it.

Kickius that should have no effect on a saved game desr_strat is only used on the first turn to load the campaign. one of the first things I did was take a roman faction saved it in 1.2 loaded up 1.3 and it either crashed back to the menu or CTD.
