Public opinion would certainly turn against the Israeli if they launched a first strike (especially if they would use nukes), many politicians might feel to need to distance themselves from the Israeli.

Ugly thing. Maybe it was a mistake made by the USA to invade Afghanistan and the Iraq. For sure the situation in Afghanistan was a breeding place for ugly terrorists, but not the Iraq. Saddam lost lots of his former power after the first gulf war, but was able to calm down the pan Arabic painted new radicalism. As he was faced by Bush's invading army he saw his own chance to get rid of by calling in and helping the international Islamic terrorists. Saddam is now gone, while the terrorists grow in power at the Iraq. Actual a German woman was kidnapped, while local citizen in Baghdad have to handle up to 80 kidnappings a day! Just to give you a relation!

When I compare all of this with Ahmadinejad’s speeches, I come to the conclusion that it may be best to stop him with military forces in his own land. Then you have a land connection between Iraq and Afghanistan. At least this guy leads over more potential powers but Hussein did before he got invaded. The Iran is working on a nuclear bomb! I do not like wars and didn’t want the second gulf war, but it is time to check out any measures that helps to stop this idiot leading a great and respected Nation as the Iran is.

Sorry for any Iran citizen, I know you do not want a war and will for sure defence your homes as it is your right to do. You had a chance to avoid become lead by an asset during the election (did you really had with you political system?). Now it is time to lead this guy back into the swamps he crawled out for you. Use it please. I am no warmonger but still feed up with Islamic threats and loudmouthed speeches. I am a Christian and proud of it. I am feed up that in my own country the newspapers are using the word ‘unbeliever’ for anybody but Islamic people. Hey, I live not in a Muslim country! I feel abused by this term as I am not an unbeliever! Any Muslim may be proud of his religion too, but shall not force others. I believe into peace between religions, which is much easier when a sum like Ahmadinejad is no longer in leadership. It is a shame when guys like him may proof that our Christian moron (G.W.Bush) is right.

Israel readies forces for strike on nuclear Iran

ISRAEL’S armed forces have been ordered by Ariel Sharon, the prime minister, to be ready by the end of March for possible strikes on secret uranium enrichment sites in Iran, military sources have revealed.

The order came after Israeli intelligence warned the government that Iran was operating enrichment facilities, believed to be small and concealed in civilian locations.

If a military operation is approved, Israel will use air and ground forces against several nuclear targets in the hope of stalling Tehran’s nuclear programme for years, according to Israeli military sources.

It is believed Israel would call on its top special forces brigade, Unit 262 — the equivalent of the SAS — and the F-15I strategic 69 Squadron, which can strike Iran and return to Israel without refuelling.

From the same timesonline article, this bit surprised me (my emphasis added):

"...Cross-border operations and signal intelligence from a base established by the Israelis in northern Iraq are said to have identified a number of Iranian uranium enrichment sites unknown to the the IAEA..."

Israelis in Iraq? A base? That would seem a hard pill for the Baghdad gov't to swallow.

Dear Kukrikhan, Israeli agents are all over Kurdistan since 2003.

"Israeli intelligence and military operatives are now quietly at work in Kurdistan, providing training for Kurdish commando units and, most important in Israel’s view, running covert operations inside Kurdish areas of Iran and Syria. Israel feels particularly threatened by Iran, whose position in the region has been strengthened by the war. The Israeli operatives include members of the Mossad, Israel’s clandestine foreign-intelligence service, who work undercover in Kurdistan as businessmen and, in some cases, do not carry Israeli passports."

    Here's what

    And here's how

I guess most people do not realise the country has already fallen apart. The new Constitution only ratifies that. I believe the Kurdistan situation also goes a long way toward explaing the escalating war of words between Iran and Israel.

It's just rhetoric, aimed at the local populace. Ignore it.

This may be a little off topic, but I just want to say that every Jewish person I know is cool. For all you Jew bashers...

    Coal for you

EDIT: BTW, I know a French Jew. He's cool...

Well the best man at my wedding is Jewish so I can't really have a go, but the French have been terribly noisy neighbours for, well, a long time.

Great comprehension. You really catch the points, bmolsson.. Though they are not trained for that primarily, by the Israeli, they can do that on their own
