Hi guys,
Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I was wondering if there were any ways to benchmark R:TW - like getting fps to display etc.?
Thanks,
Ilsamir Lord
You can use FRAPS. I've used it before on RTW (when the game first came out.) It is freeware.
Rome Total War, it's not a game, it's a do-it-yourself project.
It doesn't make movies as far as I know. It displays, but it will also log frame rates: ave, min, max. It writes the info out to a log file.
You could probably use historical battles or custom battles to benchmark. I always saw the lowest frame rates when I was zoomed in during a big fight.

does both I believe.
movies are limited in size and with watermark if you don't licence.
I've only used it for FPS (not that that was a pretty total on my old pc, and havent bothered on the new box, maybe in the next 12 hours I might...)
Cool, thanks for clearing that up guys! Yeah, I'm upgrading from an Athlon mobile K7 1800+ and a Radeon 9600xt 256mb to an Athlon 64 3000+ with a Radeon x1800xt 512mb. So I really want to see the difference in terms of frames between the two systems. Though I'm sure I'll notice the smoothness anyway ;) .
Thanks again!
