Simpsons is for people who like their comedy without having to think to hard. Family Guy is for people who like watching people vomit so hard they get flung back against a wall.

Actually, there's a lot of refrences and jokes in the Simpsons that require indepth knowledge to get. Family Guy, it seems, used to have that, but now they're just a gross out comedy.

The Simpsons was and still is better.

I remember seeing one Simpsons halloween special in wich Homer cloned himself hundreds of times (using a magic hangmat if I recall correctly)
Among the hundreds of Homer clones stould that father from FG - hilarious, and couldn't be more true.

I think I prefer (in order)

The Simpsons (certainly the 'middle' series)
Family Guy (a rip off, but done right)
Futurama (better the Simspons series it ran along side to)
South Park (great but not much depth)

I've also seen one episode of American Dad and would certainly see that again.

South Park can be really very good - I loved the episode where they made their own first episode for some cartoon festival in their town.

I think Family guy is as good as the first 3 or 4 series of The Simpsons and is way better than the latest episodes of the Simpsons. Most long running series run out of steam, they run out of ideas, why do you think they made the office so short, so that wouldn't happen...

I admit I haven't seen any Simpsons episodes lately, let alone from the latest season. But Family Guy is basicly the same concept as the Simpsons and clearly tries to emulate its succes. If Matt Groening ran out of ideas for The Simpsons, then he also must have covered just about every sort of humor that FG could display.

Family Guy humour is more grown up though... I find it funnier than most Simpsons episodes anyway. Plus they thought it throught better before hand, has far more scope for comedy than the Simpsons.

What sucks about it? You can't really watch it around the younger members of the family, but that's about it. There are alot of anti-bush jokes in there, but most of them are funny so who cares?
