Just downloaded the patch and did a little testing:
In 1.5/1.6, we finally don't need map_heights.hgt anymore.
The game directly compiles map_heights.tga into map.rwm
At least it's an improvement....
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming in France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A novel set before the war.
A Painted Shield of Honour - 1313. Templar Knights in France are in grave danger. Can they be saved?
Is there any obvious thing to do before porting a 1.4 map to 1.6 ? I tried to do so, but the campaign CTDs after generating the .rwm (I deleted the 1.4 generated map_heights.hgt).
This is kinda annoying. I edited so many files that if there's something that's not compatible with 1.6, I'll waste hours and hours looking for it. I might aswell restart the map from scratch.
I must say I am somewhat baffled by reports of problems with rwm generation (inc. adding new buildings) and also (now) the 1.6 camp. map from 1.4
I have had no problems whatsoever.
Perhaps I've just been really lucky though I've likely played around with it more than most so I cannot see how I have avoided any inherent problems.
1.6 makes some changes to the disasters text file, victory conditions and descr_strat (and I believe the "unlocked" file) but that's about it as far as campaign files are concerned.
Can you be more specific?
My mod worked perfectly from 1.4 to 1.6 and 1.3 to 1.5 I did'nt have to change a thing.Originally Posted by Meneldil
