Or am I wasting my cash??I have many prvinces that make all the money they can and I dont wish to train there, But i keep building anyway thinking all buildings help loyalty especialy castles, Am I making a mistake cos all that cash spent on a fortress is surely not worth the grand result of some flunky getting the mag. builder trait.

IIRC, it's not the fortification size per se that impacts loyalty, it's the process of building that generates happiness virtues to the Governor/Ruler, thereby raising loyalty.

Now keep in mind that higher-level fortifications do allow higher-tech buildings, which can give your King the "highest-tech" acheivement messages, which maybe raises influence (thus loyalty?). If you have money to spare, there's really no reason not to keep building. If on a budget, then use more care allocating priorities.

Some folks recommend tearing down short-queue buildings (like Watch Towers & Border Forts), then rebuilding them to boost Governor/Ruler stats. It works, but feels kinds of "cheesy" to me. But at least it doesn't cost an arm and a leg...

No, they don't. Buildings which improve people's loyalty are watch towers, town watch, borthel, college of surgeons and religious buildings like church, mosque, monastery, cathedral, grand mosque and so

Besides a bigger castle allows a bigger merchant which provides more income.
