There is no set time or number of posts. You should just continue to post in the new member section until the next round of promotions. It could be a day, or a week.

Like m52nickerson said, promotion is not dependent on post count but on contribution. If you post a few times in a friendly and helpful manner, you will be promoted soon enough.
