Default Dawn of War or Shattered Union

I wanted to know which should I buy
    Dawn of War-
I really enjoy the demo, and had fun playing it, and is intrigued

    Shattered Union-
I'm a sucker for alternate histories, and like the split nation idea.

I really like both games, but can't decide between the two.

    Have you just been dumped?

I ask because it's usually something like that which causes outbursts like this, needless to say I dissagree completely.

Well, just looking at Shattered Union, I would warn you against it- strategy games based on a hex grid situation, like this one, tend to get reeeeeeeeeeeeeally slow. Go with Dawn of War; it is entertaining, not to mention the most violent, bloody RTS I have ever played.

Dear god, just played the demo again.

    This is the game.

I haven't played Shattered Union, but I can definitely recommend Dawn of War, it is excellent.

I was scared off/annoyed by the size of units in Shattered Union.

The units are way too big, even if they represent larger units.

Read a review of SU today, said it was simplistic but fun.

The demo is nothing compared to the real game.

In the sense that the real game is simplistic, easy and a peime example of buildig the biggest weapons first wins the game

I mean more fun in novelty value and cool animations.

Meh. Once you've seen them you've seen them. It looks great, no questions there, but the gameplay was nothing to write home about.

I agree, a waste of £30, not worth that much for the graphics as I could have just bought a DVD to watch instead.

I will assume Dawn of War is the better one.

I played more of Dawn of War then RTW... due to the amount of time I get to play and needing to rely on a reliable save...

It is fun and true to 40K... so if you are a fan of 40K it is probably 9/10 if not it is about 7/10... as an RTS it is superior however it still has the biggest weapon is the best... except tactical marines IMDHO perform well and they are a low level unit... replay satisfaction of the Campaign is almost nil, also if you only play against the AI (while it is a challenge) you will eventually figure out how to beat it... and like all RTSs the way to win is to know which building to build and which units to use to either turtle with or do an early blitz... morale is a nice feature, but it is normally only an issue after 3/4s of a unit has been wiped out and the remaining guys are about to die anyhow... it would be nicer to have xp for the troops to... this could be another way of limiting sargs, terminators and aspiring champions.

I find that morale is more of an issue with orks. The unit loses almost all effectiveness once it's broken, which happens often enough once the numbers begin to shrink. As for loyalty to the 40k Universe, it's not bad, but the mechanics of the game betray me. My orks should be able to tear gaping holes in just about anything they run into, especially Terminators, and Tankbustas should be no better in close quarters with humanoids than any other greenskin worth with his gob. Alas, this is not the case.
