Tories gain control of first Council

The Tories have managed to regain control of their first Council in Scotland -- South Ayrshire Council. Does this mark a rise in the popularity of Tories in that area? No.They gained the Council after one of the Labour Councillors resigned making the numbers 15-14 to the Tories. But any success in the short period of time until the by-election could make an impression on the locals to vote Tory in the by-election for the now vacant seat.

I wouldn't be too worried about that. They have relatively poor influence here,
and that result won't change things. They're still even more laughable a political
option than 'The Quiet Man' was when he was leader in England.

Worried about it? I'm rather pleased. I wouldn't say that they are laughable: since Cameron has came to the leadership their support has grown...

Master , the Tories have no chance of winning power in Scotland , they know that very well which is why they have used Scotland as a testing ground for all their half baked notions in the past , it doesn't matter if they piss off the voters up there because they are never going to gain the ascendancy .

Yeah, I'd feel really bad about the fact that Scotland got the Poll Tax a whopping one year earlier than England (and by God didn't we hear all about it), if it wasn't for the fact that all the Scottish Labour MPs recently voted for Foundation Hospitals in England and Wales despite the fact that there will be no foundation hospitals in Scotland.

Not to mention University fees.

Yes, it is a bit ironic that the Scottish Labour MPs voted for plenty more fees in England, whilst the Scottish Labour MSPs voted to abolish fees in Scottish Universities for everyone except those without European Citizenship and the English...

I realise you'd be pleased. [Whether they're laughable is a matter of opinion,
yes.] In any case I think it's safe to say, as already mentioned, they still have
no chance of being in government here, as I doubt Cameron's arrival on the
Westminster scene will lead to drastic changes in their support outside England.

{Of course, please feel free to have a good chuckle at my expense if they
manage to win over the Scottish people in the next 5 years or so.}
