    Default Montaigne

    im reading The Complete Essays of Montaigne, and montaigne uses history,+events that were current at his time to reinforce his arguments.
    in his essay, That Intention is Judge of Our Actions, he mentions this;

    ...ANYMORE THAN HERODOTUS' MASON, WHO HAVING LOYALLY KEPT DURING HIS LIFE THE SECRET OF THE TREASURES OF HIS MASTER THE KING OF EGYPT, REVEALED IT TO HIS CHILDREN AS HE DIED.

    there was no footnote or annotation of any kind, and i am curious of this. does anyone know what montaigne is referring to?

    Brother Vae Victus, I think this must be the 'builder' from Book II, 121.
