Poor Kaiser, one of these days he's going to be harrassed by Homeland Security because he owns a copy of Mein Kampf, and a German dictionary

By the way: You have a German code name, you are member of this 'org.' forum (it is known for its unbalanced position concerning the war against terror).
I really wonder why you are still free. Maybe they observe you to get your plotters. No wait, they could get these informations much faster by torturing you - ups, I meant by a special treatment.

    That is absolutely ridiculous

I'm pretty sure I can buy this book at my local book store. I've seen it and beheld it's terrible evils - looked pretty lame to me anyway.

By the way, this doesn't go for Mein Kampf, which is prohibited from sale (though not from ownership) in the Netherlands.

in a related note from the Why Do You Hate Freedom? dept.

"The Ohio Patriot Act has made it to the Taft's desk, and with the stroke of a pen, it would most likely become the toughest terrorism bill in the country. The lengthy piece of legislation would let police arrest people in public places who will not give their names, address and birth dates, even if they are not doing anything wrong."

reminds me of something i read elsewhere:

"We need to create an atmosphere such that each citizen feels that without [his government papers] he will be unable to travel anywhere, that the single document confirming his identity is [his government paperwork]. The first question you must ask a detained citizen is - show me your [government id]."

I've read this too. I've also read that Bush approved "surveillances without court approval" which apparently was beyond his scope of power. So it's not any different.

No, you can only be arrested for not telling a police officer your name if you are doing/suspected of doing/witnessed something illegal. Thats what SCOTUS ruled on. If I'm in 7-11 buying a candy bar and a cop wants to know my name because I'm wearing a shirt that says "cops R teh GAY" I don't have to tell him, unless its part of "official" communication due to the aformentioned reasons.

As for the first link at the top of the thread, I'm little apprehensive of stories like this that use anonymous sources. Give us some names, for Gods sake, and stop beating the "I fear for their safety" drum. Basically this story is a person told a person told a person.....

Also, did he fill the form out entirely? Did he leave something blank on the request that caused suspicion? Perhaps someone processing the form alerted authorities and it was not an act of survellance, is he a foreign national and all his other classes are chemistry, agriculture and aviation courses?? Do you get what I'm leaning to here? I want facts, not some drivel from Southcoast newspapers. Whoever made the decision to publish this story is an asshat, its incomplete....its rabble rousing...they know his name LOL and they wont use it. Its not like he's a rape victim.

    And for that matter

I've emailed a friend of mine from New Bedford to see if confirmation is possible.

What makes you think a cop isn't going to make something up if he's going to bother asking you for a name and gets only backsass?

Too bad this took place in Mass.

Alright, I heard just now that the Standard Times is the New Bedford local paper, so I doubt that any other news site will be carrying the story.
