Hello,
I am new to RTW but I would like to turn FOW off and give myself increased start money. How do I do this?
Open your console with the tilde key ( ~ ).
toggle_fow: turn fow on/off
add_money XXX: where XXX is the amount you wish to add to your coffers. Maximum per entry is 20,000.
If you have patch 1.3 upwards, you can use the commands as often as you like. If not, you can only enter the commands once per session. After that, you'll need to quit RTW completely, restart to use them again.
Cheers.
1) In the RomeShell console, type in
toggle_fow to display the whole strategy map. You may need to bind RomeShell to a shortcut key from your options menu.
2) How to alter starting denari:
* Create a backup of
descr_strat.txt @ C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\Data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign
* Open descr_strat and browse to the faction of your choice;
Ctrl+F is a quick way to do this
* You will something like this:
Code:
faction romans_julii, balanced caesar
denari 3000
* All you have to do is change the starting denari to whatever you like. Watch out, however, there is an upper limit to the amount of starting denari you can allocate, which I think is documented in
Hard-Coded Limits. Go over this limit and you'll start with negative funds
[EDIT:]Ignite, you beat me to it

with patch 1.3 onwatds add_money goes up to 40000 and you can do it as many times as you want
It is odd, whenever i press tilde it did not work (console doeasnt show). I just did all my cheats through the games files instead.
Not having FOW on is cool, I didnt really give myself any substantial money, just enough to raise an army to capture Patavium from the Gauls.
